... what a Suprise ...

I awoke yesterday morning to a lovely email from my dear friend Ann all the way from Houston Texas, who has a beautiful quilting blog …

‘Fret not yourself’ which I follow … the email was to let me know that Ann had nominated me for the The One Lovely Blog AwardI was speechless and very touched by the nomination.

I came across Ann through Google+ a number of years ago and have been very keenly following her wonderful creations.  I am totally amazed in how she puts all those little pieces of fabrics in all different colours, patterns, shapes and sizes together to create a piece of ‘Art’ as far as I can see not only useful but beautiful too, I believe it is her love of Mathematics that gives her the mind for such intricate and patient work !

“Thank you Ann for the lovely nomination”

As far as I can understand the nomination of the The One Lovely Blog Award’ is passed on to Bloggers by fellow Bloggers to hopefully introduce them to a wider Audience; and in recognizing those blogs that are “lovely” and “inspiring” by fellow-bloggers who chose to nominate them.

The award acknowledges bloggers who share their stories and thoughts in a beautiful manner that connects with their viewers and followers.”

To “accept” the Award the nominated Blogger must follow several ‘guidelines’. I have these guidelines listed below.
  1. To thank and link back to the amazing person who nominated you.
  2. Share 7 things about yourself.
  3. Nominate 5 other bloggers and comment on their blogs to let them know.
Firstly ofcourse … “Thank you Ann so sweet of you …”

Secondly some little ‘tit bits’ about myself? Mmmm let me think?

  • ·        I was born with a Crayon in my hand and have never stopped drawing, painting, making some sort of mark onto a surface, being stirred by the beauty of the Natural world.  I have had numerous Exhibitions and Commissions which were challenging and rewarding at the same time …
  • ·        I love giving my work away & seeing the joy it brings to others …
  • ·        I adore listening, singing and dancing to Cesora Evora – an amazing woman with such an incredible voice from Cape Verde on the West African Coast - at full blast whilst I Hoover the house much to El Ranchero’s dismay …

  • ·        I love to lie on the grass, though these days it’s dirt and rocks to watch the clouds as they dance past across the sky, an indulgence that I had forgotten about during my “other” working life, however in this wonderful life it has come back to me …
  • ·        I can’t live without flowers especially the little Pansies and Violas that I plant each year and the little “Johnny Jump Ups” that self-seed each year and who’s happy little faces are always there to greet me in the depths of winter.
  • ·        I adore lemons picked freshly from the tree and devouring them like oranges, love Greek yoghurt on everything, ginger jam with pork chops, home-made garlic butter made with clarified butter smothered over steamed veggies especially pumpkin, real eggs from a chook, continental parsley, an espresso with a dollop of fresh cream, Demara sugar … and the list goes on …
  • ·        The smell of horses and the way they greet you muzzling up to your face smelling you and tickling you with their whiskers … just perfect

Thirdly well we live in a rather remote part of the country and I really don’t get on line as often as I would like with stock work, day to day running of the property and those other times when we just can’t seem to get on line, atmospheric I guess … Gremlins perhaps, most probably? …

There are so many wonderful Blogs out there and these are just a few that I like to visit, to see what they are up too, not in any particular order and cross over a number of different topics and subjects …

·        http://blog.estemacleod.com/  I came across Este’s work whilst on ‘Pinterest’ and have been following her gorgeous work now for a year or so she is so clever with all the beautiful colours and designs that she creates.

·         http://therosylife.blogspot.com.au/  I came across Sara and her two sweet girls through … a link now long forgotten … Sara is wonderfully creative and I enjoy seeing her whimsical images.  Sara also takes great images of her place in winter with real ‘Snow’ such a novelty for us here in Australia …

·         http://sweetbriardreams.blogspot.com/   I came across Chel through Google+ and love the walks, galleries, gardens and outings that I go on with Chel through the English countryside, towns and Cities along with her Mother and her lovely little dog Coco, though unfortunately Coco has left this world and she has finally made the plunge and has another addition to the family a lovely little Labrador called Pip …

·        http://www.sowandso.com/  I started following Leila and her friend just as they decided to follow their dream and buy some land to live off and share with others leaving the busy City of Rotterdam in Holland for the countryside.  They are wonderful gardeners and I enjoy seeing that under some very extreme conditions – ice and very heavy snow they manage to have wonderful gardens and lots of ideas and tips on plants and growing edible plants …

·        http://66squarefeet.blogspot.com/   I can’t quite remember how I came across Marie’s blog … though I was intrigued by the area in which she gardened – hence 66 square feet – and the things that she cooked from her lovely little garden in New York … then she and her ‘man’ moved to Harlem … and they often go to South Africa, where she comes from and the images of the market places, gardens and the landscape are just glorious that she shares and visits there …

·        http://rustykalnakuchnia.blogspot.com/ Agnes was the one who contacted me in relation to my little blog and I have been following her ever since.  I love her blog, she is such a wonderful cook.  Agnes is actually a Scientist of some description in Poland and just loves to cook in her spare time, in particular I do love her Polish dishes and the dishes that have been passed down to her from her mother … just wonderful … I must warn you, though the translation from Polish to English at times can be a bit of a mind bender to totally ‘Hilarious’ but it’s worth every word …

… and there are many, many, many more this is just the ‘tip of the Iceberg’ and each day brings additional delightful Blogs to discover and ofcourse you are all acknowledged by me as you share a little bit of your life with me …

“Thank You to You All”

A big thank you again “Ann” for the nomination and acknowledging how “lovely” my blog is I am so pleased that you delight in my ramblings and my humble photographic images, ... ps ... one day I shall have the opportunity to invest in another camera, until then.

I also gather that not all of the Bloggers that I have nominated will want to add the award(s) to their blogs. That's quite alright. The reason that I nominated – only a small fraction of you - in the first place and what I gather the purpose of these nominations is; is to give appreciation to the many, many “lovely” Bloggers that are out there and to acknowledge their contribution and to share that with other Bloggers of similar interests and those who too, have an inquiring mind.

And as far as I can gather there are no obligations for you …

Bye, for now

Simone
